Seventh Film Festival - Iraq in Hollywood - Report and Results

The Multicultural Cinema Club is happy to publish the results of this event which took place at Kitchener City Hall from June 16th to June 21, 2009.

Our sincere thanks to all the supporters and sponsors who helped make this happen: City of Kitchener, Tapestry, Waterloo Regional Art Council, Generation X, Social Planning Council.

Also we thank Martin de Groot (WRAC), Kieran Bonner (UW), Andrew Kohl (producer), Mick Grogan (filmmaker) and Philip Bast( journalist and filmmaker) who introduced the films to the audience and conducted the discussions after each screening.

Our thanks also to the volunteers who helped us: Jon Lucas, John Douglas Du.

The event was organized by MCC's Azam Fouk Aladeh and Margaret O'Shea Bonner.

In this film festival we witnessed a huge drop of number of people attending the films comparing with last film festival in March or even comparing with the fifth film festival which took place in June 2008 at same dates.

The following is a breakdown of attendance at the festival:

  • Total number of people who attended the event: 107
  • Average number of people who attended daily: 18
  • Average number of people who stayed for discussion: 9
  • Average time of discussion: 20 Min
  • Number of movies screened: 6

We were pleased to screen this award winning films that generated a very interesting discussions.

Thank you again

Azam Fouk Aladeh
Margaret O'Shea Bonner
